How to Buy a High Quality Protein Bar

When choosing a protein bar, take these 3 simple factors into consideration:

(1) Low Carbs – Look at the Nutrition label. If the protein bar has more grams of carbs than grams of protein, then it’s no longer a protein bar, it’s a “weight gain” carb bar.

(2) Low Sugar – Choose a bar with zero to 2 grams of sugar. The bar in the picture has way too many grams of sugar to be considered a quality protein bar, which is why it’s on the clearance rack (shame on you EAS for making such a low quality bar).

(3) Low Total Calories – Choose a bar that’s around 200 calories or less. Protein bars are excellent snacks in between meals, and a 200 calorie high protein/low carb bar can help satisfy your hunger until your next complete meal. It’s much easier to burn off 200 calories through exercise than it is to try to burn off 350-400 calories which some low quality protein bars add up to.

My personal favorite protein bar is Quest Bar. Quest Bars contain 20g of protein, less than 2 grams of sugar, packed with fibrous carbs, and taste absolutely amazing!

Also, you can make your own protein bar.
